The emphasis in Year Two is to follow the Key Stage One Curriculum, which focuses on the development of the individual child and provides high quality learning opportunities for the children to learn through play. The children are able to explore, take risks, have fun, form friendships, think critically and form their own ideas.

Class 2 have enjoyed using the bee-bots to learn all about programming and debugging. They had challenges to complete by giving the bee-bot a set of instructions to land in the correct place. Class 2 have wrote commands, directed a bee-bot and worked as a team.

Class 2 have loved our bug hunt as part of their science learning. They searched for bugs and used ID charts to identify them. The children thought carefully about the habitats of insects and bugs. They certainly found a few creepy crawlies!

The children in Class 3 have been learning about computer programming this week. We have been practicing our skills by using BeeBots and creating our own challenges with them.

Balance Bikes Festival
The Nursery and Reception children were invited down to Stocksbridge High School to take part in a balance bikes festival this term. The children got to take part in lots of fun activities and used there new skills to whizz around the final obstacle course.

Meeting James Ketchell
The explorer James Ketchell came into school to visit the children and tell them all about his adventures. The children were lucky enough to get a chance to sit in his tent and try his ration pack food.

The Nursery and Reception children were invited down to Stocksbridge High School to take part in a balance bikes festival this term. The children got to take part in lots of fun activities and used there new skills to whizz around the final obstacle course.

Meeting James Ketchell
The explorer James Ketchell came into school to visit the children and tell them all about his adventures. The children were lucky enough to get a chance to sit in his tent and try his ration pack food.

‘Tinkering’ with bee-bots
Class 2 have enjoyed using the bee-bots to learn all about programming and debugging. They had challenges to complete by giving the bee-bot a set of instructions to land in the correct place. Class 2 have wrote commands, directed a bee-bot and worked as a team.

In Geography this term the children have been exploring where in the world the seven continents are and what countries are in them.

Bug hunting
Class 2 have loved our bug hunt as part of their science learning. They searched for bugs and used ID charts to identify them. The children thought carefully about the habitats of insects and bugs. They certainly found a few creepy crawlies!
