The emphasis in Year Two is to follow the Key Stage One Curriculum, which focuses on the development of the individual child and provides high quality learning opportunities for the children to learn through play. The children are able to explore, take risks, have fun, form friendships, think critically and form their own ideas.

Over the last couple of weeks the children have performed 5 wonderful nativities. Each nativity has been different, special and wonderful. Our Nursery children performed in their very first nativity with children reciting lines, acting out their parts and singing...

Class 2 have been busy practising and perfecting their sewing skills. They have learnt what an over-stitch, running stitch and cross stitch is. They have sewn buttons too. Class 2 are well on their way in making their Hidden Hero puppets.

The children have enjoyed looking at the festival of light, Diwali. Year Ones have read the story of Rama and Sita, decided which characters in the story are good and which are bad. They then made traditional clay thumb pot diva lamps in Welly Wednesday.
The Reception children made reflective disc diva lamps, using their fine motor skills to peel and stick gems and stickers.
We tried poppadoms and a coconut treat that is eaten during in Diwali and enjoyed watching a program showing the different way it is celebrated.

Year 2 were very lucky to be invited to watch the Men's figure skating British Championships at Ice Sheffield. We watched the men warming up on the ice and were wowed by some incredible moves. Truly inspirational!

Firefighters Visit
The children enjoyed their visit from the firefighters. They listened and asked questions.
Diwali
The children have enjoyed looking at the festival of light, Diwali. Year Ones have read the story of Rama and Sita, decided which characters in the story are good and which are bad. They then made traditional clay thumb pot diva lamps in Welly Wednesday.
The Reception children made reflective disc diva lamps, using their fine motor skills to peel and stick gems and stickers.
We tried poppadoms and a coconut treat that is eaten during in Diwali and enjoyed watching a program showing the different way it is celebrated.
Paramedics Visit
As part of our 'People who help us' topic, some paramedics visited the school to talk to the children. They told the children what different jobs they do. They also showed the children what clothing they wear and the different equipment they use. The paramedics...

The theatre came to Stocksbridge Nursery and Infant School. There was lights, music, singing and dancing. We sat and watched, joined in and had so much fun.

Class 2 have been busy practising and perfecting their sewing skills. They have learnt what an over-stitch, running stitch and cross stitch is. They have sewn buttons too. Class 2 are well on their way in making their Hidden Hero puppets.
