‘Learning For Life’

Welcome to Class 3

Welcome to Year Two

The emphasis in Year Two is to follow the Key Stage One Curriculum, which focuses on the development of the individual child and provides high quality learning opportunities for the children to learn through play. The children are able to explore, take risks, have fun, form friendships, think critically and form their own ideas.

A visit from a vet

A visit from a vet

Class 7 really enjoyed the visit from a vet. They asked lots of questions, talked about how to look after pets and animals and had a go themselves at listening for a heartbeat, putting a bandage on and getting ready for surgery. We then put all the information into practice in our own vet role play area.

Road Safety in Class 2

Road Safety in Class 2

As part of Road Safety Week, Class 2 completed a road traffic survey to see how busy it was around school. We had such fun doing it and even managed to get a few waves and beeps! 25 cars past us, 2 vans and even a bicycle. Great work, Class 2!

Making Diva Lamps in Class 2

Making Diva Lamps in Class 2

In R.E, Class 2 have been learning all about Diwali and the Festival of Light. The children have learned why it is an important part of the Hindu calendar and read the story of Rama and Sita. Class 2 made their very own Diva Lamps out of clay to celebrate the...

DT project continued

We have continued with our DT project and have become experts in threading needles and knotting thread. We are learning how to do a running stitch, over stitch and a cross stitch before we design and make our hand puppets.

DT Puppet Making Project in Class 5

DT Puppet Making Project in Class 5

First we tested what would stick the material together. We used treasury tags, sellotape and glue, but didn't think any of these would be the most effective way of making a hand puppet. The majority of the class thought sewing would be a better option.

Miss Rogers and Mr Barker met some children at Stocksbridge Leisure Centre. We all walked to school and kept an eye out for road safety pictures.

Practising Our Threading Skills

Practising Our Threading Skills

This half-term, the children will be designing and making a Christmas decoration. They will join textiles together using a running stitch.  The children have been practising using a needle and have threaded the cotton in and out of the holes on their paper.

Forest School

The rainy weather didn’t stop Class 3 from making the most of their Forest School time! The children loved spending the whole day out in the meadow. They planted runner beans, which we are now keeping an eye on in class. The children loved climbing the trees and finding all of the mini-beasts!

Science

The children had great fun making leaf kebabs during their science lesson. They carefully collected a variety of colourful leaves and used sticks to thread them together, creating their own unique designs
