‘Learning For Life’

Welcome to Class 3

Welcome to Year Two

The emphasis in Year Two is to follow the Key Stage One Curriculum, which focuses on the development of the individual child and provides high quality learning opportunities for the children to learn through play. The children are able to explore, take risks, have fun, form friendships, think critically and form their own ideas.

KS1 Visit Eyam

KS1 Visit Eyam

Where the plague began - Eyam The children in KS1 visited the tiny village of Eyam in Derbyshire which holds a lot of history. We took a walk towards the boundary stone, hiked up the hills to the Riley Graves, visited the church and the museum. It was a real 'hands...

First Aid in School

First Aid in School

As part of our PSHE curriculum, the children from Reception through to Year 2 learnt some basic first aid skills thanks to Crystal First Aid. The children learnt: what to do if someone was choking the recovery position how to bandage a wound CPR

Morning sounds!

Morning sounds!

In music we started creating musical soundscapes and today's soundscape was focussed on the noises we hear in a morning. The children thought of all the noises they hear when they wake up in the morning and chose one to represent. They chose a musical instrument which...

Mothers Day

Mothers Day

For Mothers' Day we invited our mums, grandmas, aunts and friends into school to celebrate with us.  We sang for them, had quizzes, baked buns, made cards and gave flowers.  Everyone had a really great time.

Nurturing Nature

Nurturing Nature

For our 'Nurturing Nature' topic this half term, Class 2 have enjoyed planting their own sunflower seeds and taking them home to nurture. We have learned new vocabulary such as germinate and seed dispersal. We are also investigating what seeds need to grow. We think...

KS1 Puppet Making

KS1 Puppet Making

As part of our Hidden Heroes theme, the children in Years 1 and 2 designed and made their own puppet. We saw some wonderful designs, excellent cutting skills and some stitching that would put some adults to shame! Fantastic work everybody.

Forest School

The rainy weather didn’t stop Class 3 from making the most of their Forest School time! The children loved spending the whole day out in the meadow. They planted runner beans, which we are now keeping an eye on in class. The children loved climbing the trees and finding all of the mini-beasts!

Science

The children had great fun making leaf kebabs during their science lesson. They carefully collected a variety of colourful leaves and used sticks to thread them together, creating their own unique designs
